Announcements

  • EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:
    All COs are signed and ready to pickup only at 8:30 am and 4:15 pm (M-F). Please call ahead of time to confirm your CO is ready to be picked up.

  • URGENT NOTICE!  ATTENTION CONTRACTORS:
    Starting August 5, 2019 All ADD FEES must be PAID PRIOR to RELEASING power, gas or Certificates of Occupancy on ALL PERMITS. NO EXCEPTIONS!

  • As of January 1, 2020, Jefferson County will no longer issue County Cards for Electrical Master, Electrical Journeyman, and Electrical Apprentice to work in unincorporated County.
    A copy of the current State of Alabama Master Electrician License will be required to represent a company as the Master for the Company.

To pull an Electrical Permit for 110 volts or above, the following is required:
  • Current State of Alabama Master Electrician Card
  • $5,000 bond payable to the Jefferson County
  • Current Jefferson County Business license
  • Current Driverís License
To pull a Low Voltage permit for normal items, the following is required:
  • Current Jefferson County Business license
  • $5,000 bond payable to the Jefferson County
  • Current Driverís License
To pull a Fire Alarm Permit, the following is required:
  • Current State Certification
  • Current Jefferson County Business license
  • $5,000 bond payable to the Jefferson County
  • Current Driverís License

The Jefferson County Development Services department maintains the official zoning map of Jefferson County. Only this office has the OFFICIAL zoning of unincorporated county property; zoning information obtained from ANY other source, including other County Departments, should be verified through our office before taking any kind of action.
