Hazardous Waste Day

Once again, Jefferson County and its partners are providing a FREE Hazardous Waste Collection Event on April 13 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. There are 3 locations: First Baptist Church Gardendale - South, 940 Main Street, Gardendale, AL 35071; Classic Car Motoring, 3900 Grants Mill Road, Irondale, AL 35210; and City of Bessemer Public Works Laydown Yard, 1205 15th Ave. North, Bessemer, AL 35020. We will be accepting all types of cleaners, paints, machinery (like lawn equipment and compressors), pool and yard chemicals, batteries (like car and truck), tires (without rims), gas/oil, aerosols, gas cylinders, light bulbs/tubes/ballasts, appliances (large and small), household cooking oil and grease, electronics (computers/TVs), fire extinguishers, ammunition, prescription drugs, and items containing mercury. We will not be able to accept: explosives, asbestos, medical waste, radioactive materials, and anything that's unidentified. If you have questions call our stormwater program at 205-325-8741
